The Executioners

On the drawing board right now, is a VF-114 "Executioners/Aardvarks" lineage print. In order to get a complete lineup, these four brand new profiles have been completed. All from the 50s, while the squadron was called the "Executioners". Throughout the 50s the squadron operated no fewer than five different aircraft. The F8F-1 Bearcat (which isn´t on this site yet), the F4U-4B Corsair, the F9F-5 Panther and the F2H-3 Banshee. Some sources state that the squadron also have operated the F9F-6 Cougar, but i´ve been unable to verify that (any help on that matter would be greatly appreciated). Below you´ll find the VF-114 gallery as it looks at this moment. Soon to come is yet another of Grummans cat-fighters...I don´t believe i have to mention it´s name ;)

VF-161 “Chargers” lineage

With the completion of the FA-18 Legacy Hornet, it have finally become possible to do a VF-161 "Chargers" lineage print. The print features the squadron very first aircraft the F3H-2 Demon, and four F-4 Phantoms and the squadrons very last aircraft the FA-18A Hornet. The print also features MIG kill markings of each of the squadrons six aerial victories in the skys above Vietnam. The size of the print is 36x12 inches and will be made available via Aviationgraphic.com very soon. Let me know how you like it. Tophatters Centennial pt. 4

Going backwards in time, The F3H-2 Demon came up as the next aircraft i had to depict. In the process i decided to rework the textures on the Demon basemodel, and this is the outcome. There´s something strangely alluring about this strange looking aircraft...perhaps it´s the design, that both have some destictive 3rd generation features, combined with 2nd generation layout. I´m not sure! But here it is: The F3H-2 Demon of VF-14 "Tophatters" as it appeared in 1961 while operating off the deck of USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42).
