This new piece have just been completed for the Hickory Air Museum in North Carolina, USA. It depicts the museums F-105B Thunderchief set a new speedrecord from Eielson AFB, Ak to Eglin AFB, FL. It took Capt. Billy White 5hrs27m to complete the trip averaging 700 mph. The highly reflective polished NM finish turned out to be quite difficult to work, with as he aircraft blended in with it surroundings and became lost in the mountainscape. But win creating the mountain ridges I made sure that i had a shaded wall around where I wanted the Thud, so the aircraft would pop out of the background. I hope it worked. This piece will only be sold from the Hickort Air Museum store.

Here´s a depiction of the very last F-105F Thunderchief in USAF service. Georgia ANG had taken over the F-105G Wild Weasels from the 35th TFW, and left as the last Wild Weasel squadron to operate the aging Thud. Despite its age (The Thud entered service in 1958), the low level speed was outstanding. Stories from Red Flag in the early 80s tells that the Thud would out pace even F-15s in low level flight. However, on May 25th 1983, Peach 91 (depicted here), made its last flight with Maj. Green as a pilot and MSgt. Nance in the back seat. The flight took the F-105F to Pax River, MD, where it would become target for missile practice. Here´s what the century series a la aircraftprofiles.net looks like right now. The F-101 Voodoo is the most recent addition to the bunch and so far only the F-104 and the F-106 is missing. Plans is to keep working on the later versions of the Voodoo, so both the two-seaters and the Recce versions are done. Below is a larger version of the first F-101 Voodoo profile from my hand. How do you like it ?
It´s about time that the USAF wings gets some attention ! Therefore i have now added the U.S. Air Forces Fighter and Interceptor section. The organisation of this section took quite some time to get right, but I decided to organize the section by Wing. This means that there can be several squadrons in each gallery, but it also mean that entire wing lineages can be followed in a single gallery, no matter if the wing have changed mission somewhere in its period of service. This means, that all the galleries in this section contains wings or groups that, at some point in their service history, was either a Fighter or an interceptor squadron or group. Please drop me a line if you visit this section ;) To be directed to the U.S. Air Forces Fighter and Interceptor section click the thumbnail below F-111F Aardvark, 48th Tactical Fighter Wing, 495th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 1991
