..and now to something completely different !

Not too long ago i decided it was time to do something a bit more contemporary. With the F-35 coming into service i thought it was a good place to start, and this is the result: A F-35A Lightning II from 56th Fighter Wing, 61st Fighter Squadron based at Luke AFB. Let me know how you like this one ;)

The VA-section is here !

I´m happy to announce that the VA-section have been added to this site. This means that this place will be crawling with Scooters, Tadpoles and soon also SLUFs, Cougars and Spads. Royal Air Force/Royal Navy section added

The Royal Air Force and Royal Navy section have now been added ! So far there´s room for improvement, but now that the section is here, I plan on adding many more RAF/RN profiles. But I could use some inspiration. What squadrons would you like to see in this section ? Please let me know, and i´ll see what i can do. Happy Independence day !

To all the visitors from the US: Happy independence day ! I´ve been thinking about a good way to celebrate and have come to the conclusion that this jet may make the cut. This A-4C Skyhawk of VA-76 "Spirits of ´76" (get it ? ´76...;) ) shot down a MIG-17 while being piloted by Lt CDR Theodore Swartz. The MIG-17 was the only MIG to be shot down by a Scooter...and also the means to which the MIG was brought down was unique: The MIG was shot down with Zuni rockets ! The kill took place on May 1st, 1967. Click the image below to be directed to the VA-76 Section A-4C Skyhawk, VA-76 "Spirits", 1967

Danish dynamite

I promised you some lesser known aircraft, and this one i believe qualifies as that: The RF-35 Draken of the Royal Danish Air Force. This aircraft was painted in these special markings during the summer of 1986 while the danish national football team (soccer), were playing the World Championships in Mexico. The Draken was painted in red/white after the team beat Uruguay 6 to 1. The painting was done with a ordinary paint roller, but the paint scheme have since become one of the most famous schemes ever to be worn by a RDAF aircraft. This aircraft was assigned to the legendary CDR Stockdale, while the squadron was operating off the deck of USS Oriskany (CVA-34), during the Vietnam War.
